Car Hopping

Whenever I lay some rubber down, my back tires start to hop and shake wildly. What could this be? I've heard that it is wheel hop, but how do I fix this?

Either your car is putting out to much horsepower for your suspension or you need to replace worn out parts in the suspesion, at least that is my guess. I would not recommend doing wheel hops as it could destroy your rear.

How are the shocks, is it lowered, how are the rear suspension bushings, torque arm mount? When your tires are pushing forward, they are also moving up away from the pavement causing them to spin even faster, then they hit the pavement and it starts over again. This is very, very, bad on the whole driveline. Especially the axles. Mine got really bad after I lowered it. torque arm bushing helped, new shocks helped, LCA relocation brackets fixed the wheel hop.
Lots of power isn't needed for wheel hop. All you need is enough to spin the tires. Example, my wife's Sonoma pickup with 2.2L 4 cylinder(118hp) would wheel hop like crazy
Answer the above questions we can help more. Until you fix it, don't wheel hop.

The thing that will fix it is LCA lowering brackets. Lowering the car will make an already bad design even worse, to the point that some cars are almost undriveable under any significant amount of power.

Well, I THINK this car could be lowered, because I bottom out on almost every speed bump I take. I have to go like 1mph over them, or I scratch my underbody. I wonder if it could be the suspension, but the car only has 51k and sat for 2 years. This is kind of weird.

RB83L69 is right. I had the same problem. I installed some lower control arm relocation brackets and my wheel hop was gone. Car handled better to. Best bang for the buck. Install them NOW, you won't regret it.

I boxed in my control arms and my pan-hard bar. I noticed a significant increase, better traction. When I used to put it into reverse it would wheelhop if i gave it any gas (Once was enough). Now with my boxed in Control arms & pan-hard, It does not hop in reverse either.

I also installed subframe connectors from SSM. (don't know if that changed anything.

Somthing to consider. It cost me nothing more than the time to remove & install and a little time welding & painting.
