Shift Problems

Okay my problem is that my transmission will not shift out of 1st at WOT! If I hammer it form a stand and as soon as I get to 30mph the engine will rev but not pull and will not shift unless I take my foot off the gas! It seems to me that this kind of thing happens only when the car is at or above 160 Deg F or at operating temperature. When the car is cold it will shift at WOT I am pretty sure of it. It is a 700R4 in a 86 IROC-Z I have adjusted the tv cable like it says and the trannie has had a service not long ago.

I have no other ideas what it could be does anyone have any ideas?

The only time I have seen 700's W/O a Band is when a beginner forgets to put it in. It is what gives you 2nd and 4th.

So they do have bands funny how much misleading information you get off the net. I asked this question on another board and I was told you cannot do any service to the bands because there are none.

Okay thanks for clearing it up!

For the record, the factory method of 'adjusting' the bands involves selecting among different length apply pins. It is not something that you would normally do and if you needed to it was too late anyhow!

Hmm sounds similar to what mine was doing the other day. When its below 160 and pinning the oil PSI, the tires let out a healthy "skrrk" on the 1-2 upshift, but when its in the 220-230 range it waits longer to shift and dosen't chirp. Am i just loosing that much power breathing hot air from under the hood? Cause i don't have a ton of faith in this transsmission, its getting near 125K and from what i hear the last owner street raced a lot (not with much sucess i'm sure).
