"clunk" sound when sifting
"clunk" sound when sifting
I meant SHIFTING
Started after I had the tranny rebuilt and haven't had time to take it back yet..
J/W When the auto shifts from 1st to 2nd and then from 2nd to 3rd I and feel a clunk noise fromt he back..
It is most noticable from a stop and accelerating mildly. Not WOT or slowly moving in rush hour traffic.
Any idea.. or could you give me something to look out for?
For some reason I don't think its the mount...?

How many miles are on the car? Or more importantly, the rear axle?
This is not likely but I have seen it happen. You could have so much excessive play in the ring and pinion that the quick and harsh shifting of a freshly rebuilt transmission could cause some noise. Of course, a toasted pinion bearing or side bearing could cause some noises in the rear end as well.
Check all of the bolts that hold the rear axle in as well. Like the LCA bolts, Panhard Rod bolts, and shock bolts. If any of those are loose they could make noise.
A toasted U-joint can also make some noise.....
Basically you just have to get under there and check everything out until you find the problem.
A little more info on how the noise sounds might help us help you........ (ie clank, thud, metal on metal, etc...)

I have 110000 and it was at 106000 when I had it rebulit....
More of a thud than a clank.. its a dull one way thud.... when the rps drop at the shifting point thats when you hear and feel it.

No. He didn't read your post close enough or he is not very smart. If the mount was the problem it would be even worse under heavy load (WOT). Have you gotten under the car and checked for loose mounting bolts and/or U-joints?
EDIT: And there is only one trans mount on the car. It is more towards the middle-to-front of the car, not the rear. Did you have the trans done or did you do it yourself? If a shop did it, they likely would have replaced the mount when the trans was rebuilt if it was in bad shape.

I had a shop do it and I think they did replace the mount..
I tried to get under there last night, But unfortunatly I couldn't fit and didnt have the jack to raise it up... Ill get jacks and then play with what ever I can to notice anything loose...
