I think it's 3.5 qt, and yes, use DexronII or better atf. Do NOT use typeF!
The fill plug is about halfway up the side of the gearbox.

Make sure you use the right fluid for your tranny. NonWC use gear oil and WC use ATF. If you use the wrong one you could wreck something.

What color is gear oil? I have red liquid in my T-5, which should be ATF...right?

Yup. Red is ATF. If you have not had any trouble with it in there then keep using it.

If a nonWC T5 has ATF in it has a higher tendency to grind the gears and overall not work as well.

Hold on im getting confused here with this ATF AFT BFT TFB or whatever the name is. The tranny that i have came out of a 89 305 TBI, so im guessing its not a WC. Just today i put Dexxron III transmission fluid, is this right, or was i suppose to put Gear oil, what the hell is gear oil?, Could u guys be more specific? Im a virgin to T-5's

Here's a tip, fill the transmission up from the shifter hole. It's way easier if you know how to take the center console apart and you don't get messy. Or buy a pump to put it in the normal way, but it's still a pain..
