posi???

Ok i have an 88 rs and was wondering if i have a posi rear end. The code on the passenger side of the axel shaft is LC2122 can anyone decifer this for me?

get both rear wheels off the ground and turn one, if t he other turns in the same direction you got posi (LSD) , or the the cover off and look for clutches in the carier

Keep in mind that having a posi rear and having one that actually works are two different things on the 3rd gen.

Most RS models did not have a Limited Slip (G80). It was a option that had to be special ordered in most cases on all RS models. Check your RPO list under the consol lid.

wait, 88 would of been an SC not a RS

anyway i knew someone that had a 88 SC with the factory LSD

these are the rear axle codes for an 1988. I looked at the codes for all years and couldn't find the one you posted. Here is a link to all of them

Not sure if you are looking at the right numbers or not. As you can see all the codes start with a number; mine for example is 2PM C169 2 making it a posi rearend from a 1990-1992 vehicle ( unfortunately the previous owner had swapped in 4:10 gears which are hell with my Richmond Gear 5 speed).

why not find gravel, stop break the tires loose move forward, stop. get out of car look to see if its its one tire fire or not. much easyier and fun

i could catch both wheels in grass and gravel with my open, best way is yo do a killer burn out on pavment, if you leave 2 than heck yea
