Auto to Manual Help Please

I have a 1984 camaro and i want to switch from a auto tranmission to a 5 speed. I have the auto in now and need some help for the other parts needed in order to switch it over. I am now mechanic, show i try to do this myself or have a garage do it. Thanks for any help.

Re: Auto to Manual Help Please

It's probably cheaper to sell your car and buy one that's already a 5spd. The next cheapest option is probably going to be buying a donor car. From there it's up for debate. Most places that will sell you a conversion are probably going to include some pieces you don't need, and probably won't supply everything you do need, and they'll charge a premium for the convenience. Piecing together a swap may be cheaper, but it'll take longer.

Re: Auto to Manual Help Please

If you can find a donor car in the junkyard, one stop shopping is your best bet. Otherwise it's really easy to end up with half the parts and never get it done.
