700r4 problem
I installed this 700r4 under the assumption that the tranny had 5000 miles on it and in great working order. It was built by a guy that knew what he was doing that has built multiple transmission for other people with no hiccups.
So my problem is when i put the car into neutral it lunges ever so slightly forward.
I double checked my linkage and when the shifter is in any gear i can take the pivot pin and it comes in and out of the selector's hole on the side of the tranny fine. I am putting the pivot pin in the right hole i triple checked my linkage and pivot pin placement.
I bought a new TV cable (also known as Detent according to advance auto and auto zone) and am waiting for the temps to get up above 20* until i install it. My current TV cable doesn't rachet when you open the throttle.
I have all the appropriate brackets. And have made sure to everything is hooked up right (checked at least 3 times over.)
The tanny is a little on the full side also so could that be causing the problem? Its a little above the hot mark when its cold or just sitting there.
Any input would be great.
Thanks Everyone

Re: 700r4 problem
You might not have enough clearance in the forward clutch pack, all so check the position of the manual valve with the pan removed some times the link between the shift lever (AKA roster comb)and manual valve is bent. You may have a cross leak in the pump or a cracked input shaft. good luck

I will take a look at my rebuilding books to try and locate the above mentioned parts. Is the only way to replace the parts by pulling the tranny and rebuilding?
Re: 700r4 problem
I gather a tight foward clutch clearance could cause this, but i would not worry about this as I have seen this many times over the years, and in many different types of transmissions.
