I was wondering if this would be a good choice for a 383 stroker about 400 HP is what I am aiming for... I want both wheels to grab and slip when on turns...

Re: rear end

That appears to be nothing but the housing & axles. It says nothing about the ring & pinion or differential (posi/open/locker etc.)

Re: rear end

I see where you read that now....I read the description at the bottom "They include a steel housing, axle shaft set with wheel studs, bearings, and drain plug."

Maybe your right.

I only paid $300 more for my WHOLE CAR! Damn that rear axle is expensive!

Then buy a set of used 3.42s and have them installed. Should be less then $300 and will last you a while. Even less if you know how to set up the rear yourself. You could also possibly find a good rearend from a 3rd or 4th gen camaro/firebird with posi and better gears for pretty cheap. Then there is also the 8.8 Ford swap. Just trying to throw out some ideas for ya. Those 12 bolt units arent cheap

Re: rear end

Could get a 9inch housing/axle assembly from Moser as well (listed on Summit for third gens) they are only $1000-$1500. Then goto a junkyard, craigslist or ebay even and find a 9inch third member and rebuild it (or get it rebuilt).

12 bolts are nice too, but I hear it is a lot easier to change gears in a 9inch than a 12 bolt.

Re: rear end

Yeah I kid you not 4.88s haha. He only uses it for races, but he does drive it on the road from time to time. Extremely fast car.
