t5 stuck in 3rd gear

I have a 1989 rs 305 with a t5 I replaced the clutch and slave cylinder and it was driving fine. Later that night while my brother was driving it just got stuck in 3rd and won't budge at all. I was having trouble getting into 4th i had to either double clutch or bounce it in gear for awhile. Any ideas wtf I can do to fix it?

Re: t5 stuck in 3rd gear

Make sure there is fluid in the line and its not leaking anywhere. Otherwise it sounds like its time for a rebuild as 1MeanZ suggested.

Re: t5 stuck in 3rd gear

broken gear selector fork. either way u need to pull the trans and pull the tail shaft housing off and the gear selector cover off. a similar thing happened to me, except it didnt get stuck in a gear... i only had first, second, and fith... heres the thread that i started when my t-5 broke. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...-5-please.html although i didnt break a shift fork... that piece did break and limit what gears i could use... and yes it broke as a result of being hard on it.

Re: t5 stuck in 3rd gear

Did you put the clutch fork back onto the TO bearing correctly? I made that mistake once and it was hard to shift up or down, but harder going down as the clutch wouldnt totally disengage.

Re: t5 stuck in 3rd gear

Yea it was put in right. I pulled the trans and it still won't budge from 3rd. So I'm gonna rebuild it myself since I can't find one in a junkyard around here.
