I'm half stumped half too angry to care, so I need your help to diagnose this. At freeway speed when I try to accelerate the engine will rev to 2100 then it will snap back to 1700 and I can feel the tranny shuddering. Check the vid...

This is the torque coverter clutch coming back on. You will have to check out what is causing this. Electronics are not my strong point, but it is electronics that is causing this and not the transmission.

 

It's a non lockup convertor, u still think it's the torque convertor.

 

Since it's a non-lockup TC then that is not the problem. It sounds like 4th gear (2-4 band) is letting go and coming back on. If you chnage the throttle when this happens, does it aggrevate it?

 

Could not see video, however, i do have some questions. Did this just start recently? What are your normal rpm's at highway?(i've got 3:73's so my highway are already 2100). Is your TV cable adjusted right. Will the car do the same thing in "D" or just when punching from overdrive? Could be a simple adjustment. Do you know your rear gears? Done any work to it lately (fluid, filter, etc...)?

 

Pro built, I can ease it a little and try to accelerate sometimes it works othertimes it just shutters. But if I step on it haha oh yeah it tells me where I can stick my throttle and it feels like the whole car is trying to come apart, yeah I only tried that one time.

Otherwise I haven't played with the tranny at all, and it was built two years ago after it let go the last time.

It was happening during the entire video actually. I just started giving it more gas towards the end and then downshifted and powered through it...yeah I was angry.

 

Anyone else have any ideas?

 

in drive and neutral can you rev the engine?

do you hear anything from the exhaust when this happens? I don't know if that necessarily is your tranny...

Since I talked to F-Body Demon, I found out that this is a Corvette "lockup" torque converter, iand t is the torque converter clutch that is doing this, when it is breaking away, and not releasing, and "not" the 2-4 band as thought.

 

wait what? I thought he said it was a non-locking converter. now I'm confused. My car was doing something similar when my old injectors were going bad though
