B&M Ratchet Shifter problem or something else?

I had my trans rebuilt last summer and got a 600hp kit from Danna Pro built. I also use a B&M Ratchet Shifter, and never had problems before with it. After doing alot of work to the car over the Winter and early Spring I finally got it on the road. The car seems to shift well when in Drive, just cruising or stomping on the pedal. But when I try to use the Ratchet shift starting in 1st, then go to second it will shift into second for a little bit. But then it will actually drop it back into first. If I also manually/ratchet shift 1st, 2nd, 3rd it will still downshift back into first. (You talk about a scary situation I actually thought I was going to blow something up) This has happen a couple of times since by just experimenting at 5-10 MPH to see if it was just me or what. When this happens I have to come to a complete stop and get it out of ratchet shift mode. Which I have found then its best to put into Park, and then back into Drive. I have had someone shift for me while on jack stands, engine off and I'm underneath to make sure it does shift correctly visually at the trans. I also made sure the cable is not binding. I have also thought it could be the TV cable, although I'm sure I set it right. As I said before in Drive it seems to shift fine through all the gears, in any driving situation.

Anyone have similar problems or ideas of what it could be?

Which shifter? Are you sure the cable is adjusted right?

Thanks for replying!
Its a B&M Mega Ratchet Shifter, and I think its adjusted correctly, but if its not then, I guess thats why I'm having the problem? Although it does seem to shift fine through all the gears when its shut off.

It sure sounds like the shifter cable needs to be adjusted(Like it's almost between 2 gears) Good luck.

WERID!?!?
I've never heard of anything like that. Should I just try to re-adjust, or is there something I can do to check and verify?

That's what I would do before I tried anything else.

Re: B&M Ratchet Shifter problem or something else?

Yea but that's why I think it's not adjusted right. It's like it's between 2 gears but when it's in drive your not really messing with the shifter.
But I could be wrong.

Re: B&M Ratchet Shifter problem or something else?

Id run through the adjustment again just to be sure. It took about an hour to get my cable adjusted correctly, so that's where I would start. You also need to verify that you're using the correct hole in the gear selector arm.
