Re: Auto to Manual swap
we did 2 swaps in a day and a half on my driveway.
My auto into a friends 88 GTA and his T5 into my 88 Formula.
Had both cars on jack stands next to each other and just moved everything over.

Hey Marc,
Were you able to get the clutch safety switch to work?
Clutch pedal has two switches, one back (safety) and one front, did you put any switches on the front and if you did where did you connect it to? (does your car have cruise control?)
What would you say was the toughest part? I hear those pedal screws are tough to get to, did you need to lower the steering so you could reach them from the top?

Re: Auto to Manual swap
ok ill anser your questions in order.
1. the auto shifter has 2 wires that are for safety so it only cranks in park. you can wire those to the safety in the pedel.
2. the hardest part was the 4 pedel screws and i did lower the steering colum (very easy to do). the clutch pedel has like 2 bars that support it put them in place after you tighten the 4 bolts or you will never get to them.

My 88 had the connector for the Clutch Safety Switch tucked back there, so I just unplugged the switch from my friends 88 and plugged it into my 88.

Re: Auto to Manual swap
well sorry i guess my memory does not serve me well it was summit and i think i bought the 10.5in disc part#add-716104 cost:121.95 made by advance adapters they have an 11in as well part#add-716102 cost:157.95. i could not find one so i searched under s10 adapters. and i have headers and they burned my clutch hose so it took me a long time to locate adapters for our slave and master cyilanders to connect to a -3an fitting made by russell performance part number 640281 cost:21.99 and then i went on ebay and bought a -3an 18in clutch hose for ten bucks . oh and those adapters have a little lip on the bottom that i just barely ground off so they would fit right i ruined a few roll pins before i got it right and you have to install them with the master and slave out on a work bench so put them on before install. all pretty easy if you have do the right stuff in the right order

Re: Auto to Manual swap
actually a better question would be do you guys think itd be better to buy an auto and swap it or just keep searching for a good manual? Ive come across pretty good auto Camaros but I cant find many manuals. If I got an auto for the prices ive seen I'd have maybe about $1k left over to put into the car

Re: Auto to Manual swap
the torque arm is held in by a braket on the the trans tail shaft but the t350 dosnt have it. the tail shafts might be able to be changed but other wise you gotta change the cross member

Re: Auto to Manual swap
I know this questions probably answered but I'm 16 and I'm buying my brother's 86 Iroc-Z off of him. I just want to know what parts I need to convert from auto to manual. And which transmission and parts are best and the most affordable for a kid like me. Any replies would be appreciated

Re: Auto to Manual swap
What speed sensor did you use for the T56? I (well my mechanic) swapped my 700R4 (1991 RS) for a T56 and the speedometer has been all over the place. I called Hawks and they said I need the $300 ELECTRONIC TO MECHANICAL SPEEDOMETER BOX, GM CLIP ON STYLE box. I don't understand that as my speedometer was electronic to begin with, the 700R4 didn't have a mechanical cable to the electronic speedometer.
What am I missing?

If your speedometer is electric, then you just need this
