What is that pad mount under the 700r4 and what is that little exhaust like rubber hangers in the middle called.

I need to buy and replace these, are these parts expensive?

My transmission sometimes but not always clunks while put into reverse more then drive, looked at the mount there not broken just worn with lots of play.

Yes. The following pic will provide an idea (though you probably won't have the secondary cross member):

Re: Mounts

Thats werid everything everybody shows me is nothing like the rs I have its so werid maybe because they replaced the engine they did other work. There is this thick metal plate bolted under half the transmission and it has rubber mounts bolted to the top of it and that is what is supporting it. As wel as it being bolted to that mine looks stronger. I am starting to think I baught a car that had parts from different cars swapped into it. Some very new some very old parts, some painted fresh and other old and rusty mainly rear diff is very rusty. My suspension looks only like its 7 years old and my steering looks like its 20 years old.

Maybe this weekend I will take pictures of my engine and transmission and you guys can tell me whats so damn odd. I also think the guy that sold it he never drove it for 2 years and just gave up on the regular maintianance. He thught the engine went agian but it was just a spark pulg wire broken inside and he replaced exhaust with new dual 3 inch exhaust for both sides. He had it emissions certified under a 5.7L it has a non factory egr setup and stuff that works with exsisting system air pump etc etc.

I did a full tune up and it runs like butter but the steering problem scares the hell out of me and its been rainy.

Maybe I got ripped for 3000 dollars but it has been a great second car and 4 speed shifts nice and firm still.

Re: Mounts

Pics would be helpful (so would knowing the year, make, and model of your car). All the OE 700R4/T-5 cross members look pretty much like the one in the pic, though the 'better' ones don't have the secondary member. TTA's had a different set-up:

No. The 700R4 and T-5 cross members/mounts are identical. You can see an after market version below:
