Quick kickdown question

Alrighty, well i was just tinkering around with the kickdown cable on my camaro(th350) and the thought came to me... what happens if the cable gets engaged and youre only in first gear? im assuming there is some sort of thing that goes on that disallows the transmission to go out of first, but what? and also, what if you moved the point that the kickdown cable engaged to engage sooner, would that allow for quicker downshifts when you really put it at WOT? im just real curious about this, thanks a lot.

Re: Quick kickdown question

Nothing happens when you pull the cable out in first, there's no gear to kick down to.

Changing the cable configuration will change the point where it kicks down at part throttle, but won't do anything for WOT.

Re: Quick kickdown question

i had a question about that too actually it seems my kick down cable provides quite some resistance against my gas peddle... as hell as does not allow my butterfly to open all the way now if i were to say bend the bracket towards to throttle body and relieve some of the tension on my kickdown cable aswell as allow my butterflies to open all the way?

Re: Quick kickdown question

Are you talking about a TH350 cable or a 700R4 cable?

Re: Quick kickdown question

The 700R4 TV cable is self-adjusting, the housing will extend further from the bracket if there isn`t enough travel at WOT.
