HEELLLLP STALLING PROBLEM
ok so i replaced my 7004r about 2 months ago and ever since it's been stalling its not fuel and its not air. its electrical. because the tranny i put in had the metal magnetic speed sensor and my original tranny had the red mesh gear. i've heard the reason its stalling is because the computer cannot read how fast the car is going idk electronics isnt my strong point. but when i plugged in the speed sensor just to see if hey maybe it'll work the speedo jumpt to 110 and the car shuts off... now what do i do???
i dont know how to take the gears off the tail shaft and i dont want to break them of destroy them in this process does anyone have a solution?

Re: HEELLLLP STALLING PROBLEM
Did you reconnect the electrical 4-prong connector to the driver side of the tranny? Not at the speedo housing, but farther forward?
Is the car stalling when you come to a stop?
What year is your car, and what year was the replaced tranny?
I ask because I'm wondering if your torque converter is locked up all the time, thus stalling the car when you come to a stop (since it's trying to keep the tranny running the same speed as the engine).
Some years of 700R4 had a NO (Normally Open) 4th gear solenoid switch, and some years had a NC (Normally Closed) switch. If you swapped trannies, I guess it's possible that your ECM is trying to electrically close an already closed switch, or trying to open an already open switch, thus not locking/unlocking the torque converter correctly.
Mind you, I'm no tranny expert - far from it - but this is what first popped into my mind reading your post, so I thought I'd throw it out there as a possibility.
There's a sticky at the top of the carb forum describing the tranny differences, internal switch differences, how to test to see what switch you have inside the tranny, etc.

AND YES MY TORQUE CONVERTER IS ALWAYS SPINNING SO IM THINKING THIS MEANS ITS ALWAYS ENGAGED? COULD I CHANGE MY ECM CARB IT OR DO SOMETH9ING TO REMIDY THIS PROBLEM? DEFINITLEY APPRECIATE THE REPLY

Re: HEELLLLP STALLING PROBLEM
also should the TC be spinning while in park? my TC is also making a ticking noise and it speeds up with throttle i thought it was a barring at first
but theres no way it doesnt sound like it aswell as the sound goes away when i firmly press the brakes wile at idle and it usually goes away when i shift into reverse but comes back when i hit the throttle in R. im thinking this is my TC locking and unlocking but i dont know i need help i got a lot of different problems but i think there's only one culprit.

Here's the sticky from the carb forum:

Hard to know without knowing the year of the tranny. But if you read through the article, it tells you how to determine whether your tranny has a normall open or normally closed switch. Then find out which switch your original tranny had in it.
Again - I'm not sure this is the problem, but it's what I thought of.
Oh, and everyones wheels will spin some when car is off the ground in any gear except park - park physically locks the transmsission.

Re: HEELLLLP STALLING PROBLEM
Do you know about the TC turning while in park? ill take a look into that and at this rate i know its something to do with the tranny because the car was down for a week while i did the swap so i changed the fuel filter and the car ran like a scalded dog without any hesitation before the tranny went out.. so i think this weekend ill just put he old TC in since it wasnt bad and its just siting in my garage.
