Re: Speedometer question...
you need to replace the drive and driven gears. i dont have the chart handy, so i cant tell you the colors, i got them here years ago

Re: Speedometer question...
Mine had the red drive gear from the factory, so i used the dark gray 44T driven gear, to go from 2.73 to 3.23. (16 in crosslace)

Re: Speedometer question...
The sticky at the top will give you different information.
As far as I know, the VSS gears only go up to 44 tooth.

Re: Speedometer question...
From the 92firebird GM service manual:
P245/50ZR16 with 2.73 axle ratio, use BLUE 38 teeth driven gear and RED 17 teeth drive gear.
P245/50ZR16 with 3.23 axle ratio, use DARK GREY 44 teeth driven gear and RED 17 teeth drive gear.
If it doesn't go in, something is wrong or done wrong (the concave part faces the VSS).

Re: Speedometer question...
Perhaps, my car has another vss than your 92´f-body ?! My driven gear is red and the drive gear is red, too. Stock with the 2.73 rearend..

Re: Speedometer question...
That is possible, I only dealt with 91-92 camaro/firebird VSS sensors.
They look like this http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=343809

Re: Speedometer question...
Oh no... it´s true. My vss doesn´t look like yours..
It´s the better way to go just with new gears or with this sensor from the page ?
