Bought a 10bolt posi tonight (pics) any good?
Hey whats up guys,
I went out today and just got back now,i picked up a 10bolt posi disc brakes and appeared to be in good condition, but i don't know much about rears so i just went with my basic mechanical instincts,i see no major gear wear no shavings.
**EDIT** Supposedly came out of his 87 Camaro, but he got it from somebody elese and forgot what car it was in.
What can you guys tell me about this rear,i tried looking up stamp numbers with no avail..Sorry about the night time pics.
Thank you so much advance!

Doesn't look like a 10-bolt to me. The 10-bolt cover is round.
Looks like a Dana 44. The ratio is 4.09. AFAIK that never came in a 10-bolt.
I'd have to see more of it to know if it came out of a F-body or not.

Is there a torque arm mount on it? All third gen rears have a place to mount the torque arm. I thought I heard a rumor about some cars being able to be ordered with a Dana rear. Someone will know.

Yup, definitely a Dana and not a 10-bolt; looks like it has the torque arm mount, and other F-body features such as the Panhard bar mount...
Potentially a pretty good score.
Can't tell what kind of brakes it's set up for.

Wow i hope i'm not getting excited for no reason lmao
After doing some research on the Dana 44 it does look identical and as from what i've read from old posts on the forum that it's an extremely rare rear that they were putting in firehawks or selling in the GMPP Catalogs?
SO!! How does it look asfar as the gears and everything in there?
The guy i bought it off of was going to install it on the spot for me but i decided to take it home and get it checked out first.
Appreciate the input so far
