Engine: 383 LT1 in the works
Transmission: T-56 in the works

T56 gear shifting without clutch?
Can you shift gears in a T56 without depressing the clutch?
I had a T56 rebuilt by tickshift performance. I installed it and hooked up hydraulics but havent finished my build yet and there is no fluid in the trans yet either.
I was installing the clutch linkage and trying to set the pedal position. I depressed the pedal as far as i could with my arm and shifted gears just fine. I let go of the clutch pedal and found that i could still shift between gears without too much effort.
Is something wrong with that? Is that only because i havent run the transmission yet? Just want to make sure.

Most manual trans can be shifted threw gears when not running with out clutch i wouldnt worry to much about it till u you have everything up and running and then try it

You can shift the T56 without the clutch while driving it too. Any synchronized tranny can be shifted up or down clutchless without grinding.
