The P-N-P site lists a transmission for $99.99 + a $29.99 core fee. Not bad!

Hah, good luck finding any T56 in a junkyard. Its possible I suppose, but very doubtful since they're an extremely desirable transmission for many, many hot rod applications.

Best I found was when I asked the local Junk man. He said could get me one but even then he said would cost 1500 min just for the trans alone. Nothing else. Not sure the bellhousing was included. Best bet is craigslist or on boards like these. Usually you find everything you need for 1200-1500. Sometimes you get lucky and find one for under a grand.

Re: t56 price at pick N pull?

I can find lt1 t56's around here in the junkyard. Actually went to buy one before and they said $350 so I went to the ATM and came back with the cash but then they wanted more because I didn't have a core to give them
I showed them the wad of cash and told them they could go ____ themselves because they wouldn't be getting $350 when they crushed the car later.

For $1500 I'll go buy a complete hi mileage lt1

which yard did you hit? Gateway has never had anything like that out for the public. The junkyard dogs always pull "those kinds" of cars out for personal coin and they tuck them in the back.

Re: t56 price at pick N pull?

Honestly I think the best way to find a cheap T56 is at large salvage auctions. I've seen 93 to 97 6 speed camaros / firebirds that were trashed on the outside sale for 600 to 1000 dollars at a salvage auction. In most cases even if the body is trashed / been rolled, the transmission would be fine.

Re: t56 price at pick N pull?

We have some local yards around here that have set prices for transmissions no matter what they are or what they came out of. I found a t56 in a z28 one time but didnt have the right tools to pull it so i went around the corner to the closest store and bought a little cheap set of tools but when i got back there was another guy pulling it out already.....that sucked!

While it's not called "gateway" yes that is the one I went to and it was in with the rest.
