Do i have 4th gen rear end?

Im thinking previous owner swaped the rear end to a 4th gen.one. What do u all think? Stock 91 wheels stick out to much and i dnt like it as much. Is there anything i can do to push those wheels in? I am guessing its a 4th gen rear cuz i really sticks out and i dnt think u can do that wth a 3rd gen rear unless u use spacers right? And last question, the 3rd gen axle shafts are enterchangable with 4th gen? Cuz wouldnt the 3rd gen wheels not fit if it was a 4th gen rear cuz of the bolt pattern?
Heres a pic of the rear

Certainly appears to be fourthgen.

Third- and fourth gen axle shafts aren't interchangeable. The bolt pattern is identical.

EDIT: The thirdgen rear is approx. 57" from backing plate to backing plate and 62" from axle flange to axle flange.

To put 4th gen wheels on, the rear wheels will fit right on, but you'll need 2" bolt-on spacers for the 4th gen wheels to fit on the front.

So... How does this effect driving? Does does fourth gen drive any different? Like, is there a noticeable difference?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Do i have 4th gen rear end?

No, the 4th gen wheels won't make any difference to how it drives at all, except for fixing that poseur stance that looks like cold leftover yesterday's a** with those pizza-cutter stock wheels on there.

Re: Do i have 4th gen rear end?

But since the wheels stick out a bit more is there any issues with the tires hitting the fender anywhere?

Are you sure you don't have the front wheels on the back?

Front wheels on the back dont look anything like that. That is definitely fourth gen rear. This is my car with front wheels on the rear:

No one would know unless I told them.

Aah, ok. I remember doing that to my 91 RS but forgot how much the difference was.

So those of you with this swap, do you ever have issues with the back wheels hitting that lip on bumps?

No. For the short period I had to use the 3rd gen wheels, it never rubbed.

It looked terrible. Much better looking with 4th gen wheels.

Re: Do i have 4th gen rear end?

go with some 88-96 corvette ZR1 replica rims in 17x11 and 17x9.5. I bought these from a 3rd gen guy who had them on his 90'ish metallic blue z-28. They looked awesome on his car but now my vette has them.
