alm drive shaft from 4th LS Fbody braking point
What do u guys think these thing can take my car will be a street car but with 500 or more FWHP. They sould bolt up to my 9bolt.
Well this is the spot for this too.
Will it hold
4th gen 10 bolt with moser axles eaton locker 3.42 gears, TA alm cover, welded tubes.
3rd gen 9bolt new clutch cones TA alm cover, welded tubes
I don't think they sell lockers for 9 bolts or over the self axles.
Dana probuilt 700R4 to 650hp
9bolt tires BFG drag radials 255 50 16
10bolt street tires 315 35 17
Foot brake and line lock, only power adder procharger

OEM aluminum driveshafts are very weak. Buy an aftermarket one if you want to go aluminum. Once you start making lots of power, even the aftermarket aluminum shafts are weak.
I use a 3" x .083" steel shaft in my race car with 1350 yokes.

So the stock 3rd DS is better or 4th gen or I have to sell out 350 or more for a new stronger one. The stock ones will twist up at idle lol any input on the rear end I don't want a 12bolt, 9" or dana 60.

I have my factory alum DS (91 GTA)
My best et is a 11.0@ 125
This is with 1350 yoke hooked to a ford 9" with drag radials.
No problems here , so far......

4thgen stick guys seem to twist them up to often. I'm waiting to with mine although I haven't put drag radials on yet.
How do you guys feel about the steel 98 ls1 driveshaft. It's bigger then the 3rdgen one and steel not aluminum. They are dirt cheap because everyone wants aluminum. Sure beats an $800 aftermarket one.

Re: alm drive shaft from 4th LS Fbody braking point
I've destroyed 10-bolts. 9 bolts are way stronger.
The worst I did with it was make it whine but it still drove. Probably just a bearing as there were 0 parts broke, but I put a 9" after that.
a 10 bolt has no benefit over a 9bolt

Re: alm drive shaft from 4th LS Fbody braking point
the reason for the 4th gen 10bolt was to put th ZR1 17x11 rims on the back ( can get a 10bolt for free) and with aftermarket parts I thought it would be stronger. Even with harden gears... and the 4th gen has lighter/bigger brakes and I can do after market brakes do think there's any for 9bolts and I don't want anything FORD in my car and 12bolts are too big and heavy bout 30lbs more. So on my part list I will throw in new DS and parts for my 9bolt. I seen the new SS Camaro Brembo kit for the rear but I don't want 20s on my car I wat it to look stock as it can
