Re: 700r4 with 4.11 who's done it?

in city i am fine....on highway going 65-70mph i am at like 3200-3500 rpm...so sometimes i wish i went with 373s...but it depends on how much you drive on highway

Re: 700r4 with 4.11 who's done it?

I run a 700 w/ 4.10s and a 3000 stall. My car runs 10.9s @ 124 , 1.51 60ft and it works very well. The low first really makes for a good launch, even at a lower stall speed. As for cruising, it is good for 70 mph at around 3000. If you dont plan on highway driving all the time, its the best combo in my opinion.

Re: 700r4 with 4.11 who's done it?

i agree on that...i love the speed in the city..etc...i haven't got to race it yet..new motor and trans....i have a 2400 stall and like he said...3000 rpm on highway speeds....65-70 . but how often do you drive on highway...if alot then..go 3.73.... or 3.52

Re: 700r4 with 4.11 who's done it?

yeah...also you got to remember with higher gears you will start out faster but run out of gear..my top speed is like 100 and the car is screaming..which is fast dont get me wrong...and the only difference in a 3.73 and 4.10 is 1 tooth....same ring gear...pinion gear on 4.10 has 1 less tooth thats it. i bet 3.73s will be good...also motive gear makes a 3.90 gear ...if you want to be better than3.73 but not a tall as 4.10...just another idea...but if i had to do it all over again i would do 3,73

go with the 4.10 gear. and buy 28" tall rear tires. with the 700R4 works fantastic!

Re: 700r4 with 4.11 who's done it?

see there. right in the ball park. even in this state 70 on the Hy. is the limit.

with the 4.10 you dont even need passing gear..(i never did)
just tap it. and your gone! (my car anyway)

unless your a stock eng tree hugn long hair. and dont like your eng to be any place near 2500 rpm

With a 4.10 gear and WOT in 4th gear, your trans wont last long.

I think you would be better with a 3.73, and drag radials, unless you just want to roast your tires all day long

Re: 700r4 with 4.11 who's done it?

Spinning ain't winning.

Back when I had a 14 second car, that's all I wanted to do was spin my tires.
Now that I have a 11 second car(and want to go alot faster), thats the LAST thing I want to do is spin my tires.

No need to swap gears, just change your tire size to reach the same goal...

Don't change them. You have a stock car. No benefit except for quick starts. But you get dusted after 4800rpm. These other guys have race cars giving advice has race cars. Your situation doesn't apply.

Re: 700r4 with 4.11 who's done it?

MID TENS. back in the 90's. that was old school stuff. even with 4.11s and 28" tall tires. pulling the wheels and still doing 70 on the interstate to the track. even with MT ET streets. no spinning. just good old traction
700R4 loved it!

even getting into a top end race to the track with buddys. but then we make um to turn some RRRs.. after all. its all for fun.
still using the 700 today just doing the 5 pinon upgrade front and back with the good sunshell also.. we dont use a stock 700R4. lots of good upgrade stuff today.

Biggest bang for the buck. Sure you run out of steam early but you will do it faster.

3K at 80mph isnt bad. Back in the days before overdrive thats where I was at 65 with 3.50 gears in my 2nd gen Z28.

Yea I know. It's only good for the 1/8mi in a Stock TPI. 3.23 will beat it in the 1/4mi. 98mph in the 1/4 with 3.73, 101mph in the 1/4 with 3.23 with a full exhaust system. Maybe with the same ET.

Re: 700r4 with 4.11 who's done it?

i went from 2.73 to 3.73 on my vert. and though it's quicker.... not so fond of it on the highway. i do alot of highway driving and i hate to go over 2500 cruising. i run 245/35ZR20's which i think according to the excel calculator makes it around a 27" tire. if i did more city driving i'd probably like the 3.73's better, but i got them with the intention of going GVO or T56 down the road....

Re: 700r4 with 4.11 who's done it?

I have 4.10s and like them. I do about half and half city/highway. Its very easy with them to break the tires loose. I have 285/35/18 nitto's and can roast them from a stop well into third. Even at the track its a struggle to hook with slicks. The 373's I had prior were certainly better for traction, but I still dont regret going to 410's.

4.10's is good if you're shifting 6000+ with a tall tire. TPI is only good to 4800. So why use 3.73 or 4.10's if your not making power pass that. Its hurting you!
