Okay so im looking for some opinions on what this might be. Ive been driving my Iroc lately and noticed it doesnt like to shift right at wide open throttle. At about 75% or lower throttle it seems to shift fine, and it really didnt bug me until today when i had to fly around a little old grandma who wanted to stop for a green light, then yeild, and yeild again, and again, and then roll slightly to maybe try to make the green light turn even greener idk, but anyways, i ended up pegging the tach at 7k. Not exactly where i wanna be on a virtually stock L98. If i shift manually it seems to work pretty well (some slight delay between shifter shift and actual gear shift but nothing too out of the ordinary) until i shift from drive to over drive, then it takes a few seconds to shift. I know it doesnt feel right because my 91' RS didnt feel like its transmission was this loose with its shifts. The previous owner said the transmission was rebuild about 30k miles ago, im starting to wonder if he got someone to do a half-assed job on it. Any thoughts?

 

Mine did the same thing after I rebuilt my engine, and replaced the dented trans pan and filter. Ended up being low on fluid, I put more in and it shifts fine except overdrive. I have to let off the gas for it to kick into overdrive at all.

Also don't trust what a previous owner says haha, learned that the hard way, kinda. 8k miles on trans and motor and he thought it was a 305. Ended up being a fully forged and balanced 355

 

also check ur trans linkages. they get old and start to brake

Thanks guys, i topped off all the fluids when i got it home but just remembered after reading that that i only had a little bit of tranny fluid to add and never fully topped it off, thanks for the tip i'll have to check that again. Hopefully it fixes it all. And yes the more i drive it the less i take the previous owner on his word lol, turns out most of the interior bolts were basically hand-screwed into place and werent tight at all, everything rattled until i went on a tightening rampage a week or two ago and now its all pretty tight. Also most of the rear interior panels (inside the hatch) were sitting unfastened in place so i fastened all of those, and after checking the rear diff cover it wasnt too much better. Most of those bolts seemed hand-tightened as well and it was leaking fluid. Got a new gasket, cleaned everything, refilled it, and now it still leaks a bit so theres one more headache to tack on to it all, lovely lol. All in all though, still a great car. I can deal with re-fastening things as long as nothings broken or crazy-glued/ductaped into place, held in by chicken wire/fishing line, etc haha
