Need to locate a trans drain plug that accepts a temp sensor

Ive been searching the web for about 3 months now and have come up with nothing. I have a T5 transmission and i need a drain plug that will accept a 1/8" NPT transmission temperature sensor http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugede...id=3948&sid=76

The sensor is located at the bottom of the page.
Ive got a 350 infront of my T5 and the florida summers are over 90 degrees so my transmission runs very hot. Ive already blown one T5 trans up so i want to be safe with this new one.

If you know of what i need please post a link

Why don't you just drill and tap the stock plug for sensor? What size is the stock plug?

Second, in day to day use, heat is not an issue for manual transmissions. Your old one didn't break because of heat.

I think your old one died because you have a 350 in front of a T5.

I would agree that this is the most likely scenario but for the original question find out what the thread is for the drain plug. It is probably a pipe thread and then go to a plumbing supply store, I usually use Lowe's, and get an adapter from the drain plug thread to the 1/8 NPT.
If I could I would just take the drain plug in and match it up. I am not ashamed of asking help when I need it either. I have all parts in my hand and tell them what I am needing to do. Doing it this way would require a spare drain plug or a refill of the tranny.
Good Luck and be easy with the T5.

Re: Need to locate a trans drain plug that accepts a temp sensor

it's 1/2-14 NPT.
Grainger is one searchable site with examples.

I wouldn't recommend use of a stock square drive plug as it has a thinner section to be drilled and tapped and would then require removal of the sensor to remove the plug.

Well then its super easy. Just need to pick up a 1/2" to 1/8" NPT bushing.

McMaster Carr Part Number 4429K421.

Re: Need to locate a trans drain plug that accepts a temp sensor

thank you guys.

i should specify that my 1st t5 ran very low on oil due to an extremely large leak and overheated and blew apart bookin it down the highway. At least with a temp sensor i can tell if something fishy like that is goin on before its too late

Work with a sight glass 1/2 NPT plug and a series of mirrors into the cabin.
