Convertor Recommendation
Need a recommendation for a lock-up convertor 3K stall for my supercharged car. Keeping my 700r4 and plan to drive the car more often. I would like to know what brand you guys are running.
Re: Convertor Recommendation
I would go with the Vigilante 9.5" or 10.5". They offer a 5 year warranty and a free 2 year stall change if desired. If you have any questions here, let me know. Dana

Re: Convertor Recommendation
X2 on a Vigilante. I'm running a 9.5" single clutch lockup on my 700r4. Bought it from Dana. It is advertised as a 3200 stall, flashes right at 3k on launch. It's a little looser than I'd like once I get up on boost but that's the trade off. I haven't heard too many good things about B & M convertors. I'm pretty sure they are just a modified stock convertor. I ran a Holeshot 2400 before the Vig and I it was night and day better with the Vigilante. A lot lighter too being that it's not 12".

Thanks for the response, looks like Vigilante is the way to go. I was about to buy a Hughes convertor before your post.

Re: Convertor Recommendation
I've heard good things about TCI, I went with a 10" Streetfighter 3000 for the TH350 that's going in. Haven't used it yet though.

Re: Convertor Recommendation
Vigilante or Yank if you have the cash.
My latest is a TCI Super Streetfighter (LS1) unit. Supposed to be about 3200 with LS1. It works ok gor my setup so far. With a sticky track and tires, im hoping I can footbrake it higher. It spins my streettires just past 2400rpm now and 0 boost. Instant boost/tirespin when I go WOT though. it was $150 used so I gave it a shot.

Re: Convertor Recommendation
When foot braking, do not go over 1,800 rpm with most 3,500rpm or less stall on the launch. The higher the launch rpm wise, the less torque multiplication. That is why foot braking can give you better 60 foot ET's than a transbrake.

Re: Convertor Recommendation
All my cars have 60'd better when footbraking as high rpm as possible before brakes pushed thru.
This was using 3 different edge converters in 2 different cars all under 3600 stall.
I run a ptc in my th400 for boost. Have run several edge racing converters with good success and cheaper than vig or yank. Several good brands out there
