Overdrive when it "wants to"!! please help

Went on a tgo cruise yesterday. Trip lasted ALL day and I put on about 375-400 miles. From the garage to our first major rally point (about 120 miles). Fwy speeds 90% of the way, I hit OD in my 700r4 TWICE!! When it does go od, it rides fine for about 6 or 7 miles, then will kick back up to third and the stay there for another 25 or more miles before deciding to upshift to od again for a.short while.. It did this all day long. I just changed the pan gasket the week prior and added synthetic fluid. I have road tested this thing for two straight days before the cruise, adjusting the tv cable from one end of the spectrum to the other with no change in results. Thought maybe the linkagae inside trans may have come off, but when I adjust the cable via wot, it adjusts as it should. So I dismissed that idea. Maybe I should visually double check that.

Does anyone have any other possible ideas? It is a Monster stage 2 700R4 with about 3500 miles on it, but its outta warranty because I've had it longer than 3yrs. Thank u in advance

Mine does the same thing. You can add a toggle and lock it that way which is what I am going to do. When the converter is locked it cuts the heat way down which makes your trans last a lot longer. For every 10 degrees you drop in temp you add 10.000 miles.

check your transmission overdrive cable. I actually ran into a guy having problems with it because he got a new carb and didn't know where to hook the cable up to lol.

The rest of the trans shifts nearly perfectly. After the converter locks up and I hit 45 or more mph, it just continues to rev up in that gear. If (and when) it decides to go in OD, its only for a short time. Then reverts back to 3rd and then the lockup and then it just holds. I am going to make sure the tv cable.is in fact connected this wknd.

Is it still hooked up to the computer, or did you put a lock-up kit in it ? Another possibility could be VSS. If your TV cable were out of adjustment, it would shift funny.
