Re: t56 what do you need?
If its out of a 93-97 camaro or firebird:
You'll need to use the 4th gen clutch and flywheel.
You also need the clutch master/slave from the 4th gen.
You'll need a dakota digital box to match the speed signal to your ecu.
You also need to wire up a switch for the reverse lockout.
Make sure it comes with the shifter, or you get one, they are different.

Re: t56 what do you need?
Since you've obviously read and totally digested the "sticky" about the T-56 on this forum as well as the one in the FAQ forum, is there any specific question you need spoon-fed to you about, that hasn't already been exhaustively answered in the HUNDREDS or even THOUSANDS of posts, complete with pics & part #s, in those 2 comprehensive collections? I'll be glad to fill in any gaps (although I think I already have filled in a few within them, actually....)

Re: t56 what do you need?
Do I need to get the speed thing or can I just go without it ? The Speedo in my car hasn't worked in about a year so I don't really care about that. And what is the reverse lockout? And will the 4th gen slave and master cylinder bolt up to were the stock ones were

If you don't care whether the speedo works, then you don't have to make it work.
Reverse lockout = a mechanism controlled by the ECM in the car it came out of, to prevent the driver from accidentally shifting into reverse; in its "rest" state, it's all but impossible to use reverse; in these cars the control for it doesn't exist; therefore either it has to be removed, disabled, altered, or a control rigged up
Slave yes, master no; it goes in a different place

Re: t56 what do you need?
Ok so I can just take the slave and hook it to my master. And then with that lock out do I just have to splice wires together to get rid of it or is it somthing I have to take out of the transmission?

Re: t56 what do you need?
Yes the slave and master bolt in place as they are supposed to, stock.
The reverse lockout is a solenoid, you need it there, you take it out you'll end up grinding reverse trying to go into 5th.
It is possible to push the shifter over and get into reverse without the solenoid energized, but it takes some force and is annoying.
You'll need the connector for the solenoid, some wire, a relay, a fuse holder and a pushbutton momentary switch.
One of the solenoid wires wire constant hot with the fuse, hookup the relay so that when you push the button the contact side of the relay supplys ground to the other wire of the solenoid.

Re: t56 what do you need?
So I could just run it to like a pilot switch and just have to flip it on to gettin to reverse?

Re: t56 what do you need?
Click that, hookup the relay as follows:
85 to ignition hot
86 to your switch
30 to ground
87 to the connector for the rev lockout on the trans.
The other wire on the rev lockout you hookup to the ignition hot with 85
Hookup a momentary (you want to make sure you get a momentary switch so you dont forget it on, burn it up, grind reverse, etc) switch with the source for it being ground, and the other wire to the 86 terminal of the relay.
Ideally you can hook this up with a stock relay from the junkyard to keep things looking factory.
If you are interested in something very clean looking and arent afraid of doing a little work I could put together a kit that installs into the factory firewall connector, uses a factory relay connection, rather than making extra holes to route wires through.

Re: t56 what do you need?
Somebody on here put in a softer spring for the reverse lockout. Others of us have it hooked up to the brake switch so that it is only activated with the brake pedal pushed. Some have even said that they left it alone as it wasn't bothersome overcoming the spring without activating the lockout. You can not use your original flywheel or clutch with stock t56 hydraulics etc. Read the t56 swap thread sticky. Only the first 3 pages are really necessary. Search for other questions you may have.
