clutch switch problem
so i have been looking just about everywhere for a clutch safety switch to replace my broken some what working one. i have tried google searching, hawks, napa, autozone, summit, classic industries, o riellys, and ebay. nothing is coming up. any suggestions??
Re: clutch switch problem
You could give Ebay a shot. However, if you can't locate one, you can always just bypass the switch. All you have to do is jumper the 2 wires together, and it's bypassed. I wouldn't necessarily recommend bypassing it if you have a wife or daughter that drives the car occasionally, but if you're the only one who drives it, I'd just bypass the switch and be done with it. I did that to the switch on my 69 Camaro years ago, and I've never once forgotten to push the clutch pedal in before starting it!
Btw, if you can't find the switch anywhere, and you definitely want one, I do have one on a set of clutch pedals somewhere in my garage that have a switch on them. PM me if you'd like to buy a used one. For that matter, the switch is pretty universal, so you could go to a junkyard, and get another switch off of quite a few different GM cars with a manual trans.

Re: clutch switch problem
Take about a 4" long piece of fairly thick AUTOMOTIVE (not house) wire; crimp a male slide terminal on each end; and plug the harness into that, instead of the switch.

{Very bad pic I found somewhere on the Internet; do a better job than this, all it's supposed to show is the type of terminals you need}
DON'T CUT ANY WIRES!!!! Don't damage, alter, change, cut, splice, hack, strip, twist, or in ANY OTHER WAY, molest the original harness.
