T-5 to a T-56

Is a swap from a non world class T-5 to a T-56 a seamless, bolt on transition?

If not, how much $$$ and which additional parts are needed?

t56, custom t56 crossmember(search), use stock pedals, stock master, and a 1988 Cavalier 4-cylinder slave, t56 conversion flywheel if you have a 2 piece rear main seal...

How did the cavalier slave work out? I read about it being a possible solution to doing fabbing one out of the T-5 slave.

I keep reading on these forums that you have to replace the thirdgen pedals, master, and slave with the matching pedals, master, and slave that go along with the T56, is that not true? That's the main thing that's pushing me away from a T56 swap vs building up my T5, is that it requires fab work.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: T-5 to a T-56

How do you get from this,

replace the thirdgen pedals, master, and slave
to this?

requires fab work
It's all unbolt and re-bolt. Only "fab" work in it is hack-sawing off a piece of sheet metal about ¾" wide.

Read the sticky on this forum and the one in the FAQ forum; do the search; then since that will take about a month to read, if there's ANY detail left that hasn't already been covered, ask a specific question about it.

Bolt in fourth gen pedals (chop the accel pedal off) + 93-97 fourth gen hydraulics = good to go.

Use third gen pedals (longer travel of the master cylinder) + 93-97 fourth gen master & line with cavalier slave = good to go.

Third gen pedals with 93-97 hydraulics works. However, if the clutch release fork has excess travel, it may grind into the pressure plate and have other clutch release idiosyncrasies. Hence the solution of the Cav. slave as mentioned above.

Perfect!

Easiest way when coming from a T5 IMHO especially when you have a cage like I do. The custom line is also easy to make. Just seach my name. I have posted the part numbers several times...
