Does anyone know the part number for a TV cable for an 86 TPI set up? I did a search and found 25521263 for 87-88 and 10163879 89-92 but no listing for 85-86?

Long story short, I ordered a TV cable for my 86 TA from Napa and now that its installed I find the cable won't adjust? It's as if the inner cable was way too long. Even at its minimum adjustment still doesn't really pull the cable tight and does not ratchet the adjuster. Does anyone know what would cause that?

 

85 & 86 throttle body bellcrank is same as 87-89.
What PN did you get from Napa?

 

I believe it was NAPA part number ATP 17901? The cable length seems perfect. Straight line from the transmission to the throttle bracket and it fits like a glove. The inner cable on the other hand, is like at least 1" too long. Even at WOT the bellcrank is just starting to pull the TV cable and thats with the adjuster backed down as short as it will go.

 

Get a 87-88 bracket.

 

acording to the parts manual the part number 25521263 is correct.

 

I'm pretty sure all the throttle brackets were the same. Can anyone else confirm one way or the other?

Just in case anyone was curious, I ordered the new cable (AC Delco 25521263 ) and that was exactly what I needed.

 

Good deal. Yeah most of the aftermarket TV cables are pure junk. The only one I've seen that matches up pretty close to the original ones is the ones made by Pioneer. What surprises me is I didn't even think you could still order an original one. That's good to know!
