t5 to t56 swap
I'm getting ready to do this swap. I have an 88 camaro with a 305 tbi with a t5. Just looking to improve gas mileage. I've got all the stuff needed, just wondering what anyone has for input on clutch master/slave combinations. Planned on using third Gen pedals. I've read a bunch and was just looking for input and was also wondering if I have to modify my floor around where the t5 shifter would be. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: t5 to t56 swap
305 TBI, 3.27 rear are a mismatch for the 2.66 first / .50 sixth T56.
Word to the wise.
A 2.97 / .56 version would be the way to go with that combo; Z51 5th if possible. But, that adds to cost and complexity.

Re: t5 to t56 swap
I finally got around to getting everything swapped it. Have 2 issues with it though. Clutch pedal is hard as a rock and the starter is making this awful grinding noise. Swapped in an lt1 starter and same thing. Any ideas what I may have done wrong?

Re: t5 to t56 swap
If you wired the starter wrong, it may be engaging full-time.
You haven't said much about what parts you used, nor posted pictures of them. So effective diagnosis is going to be worse than it usually is on the internet.

Re: t5 to t56 swap
I've got 4th Gen hydraulics, stock pedals. Stock lt1 clutch. Tried both starters and it still grinds bad when I try turning it over. No idea what's causing it, but would love to figure it out. Also has t5 pilot bearing if that makes a difference.

Re: t5 to t56 swap
Pilot bearings are the same. Recomend the roller bearing over the bushing. You probrably need to shim the starter to match the lt1 flywheel. All the posts say to cut and thread shaft if you use the complete 4th gen master and slave due to alignment issues. I used a 4th gen master and cavalier slave with great results with my 3rd gen pedals. I used my stock T5 starter.
