Got a DANA 44
Got a DANA 44
I have a Dana 44, 8.5 rg, 4.09 Dana gears.
Trutrac posi, 30 spline axles, disc brakes and the rear sway bar.
I no longer have a camaro and this rear end isnt getting used.
Any idea what its worth now? Ive saw people ask $1900 and saw a bad one go for $500.

Re: Got a DANA 44
It would depend entirely on whether or not it's usable (and reliable) in the condition it's in.
I paid $700 (USD) for one that I had hoped would be OK however it needed a rebuild. That was another $1000 for a made in the US gear set (real Dana gears) and an install kit. Add to that a brake installation and sway bars and I was set back about $2000 for a like new rear axle with brakes and working posi. I figured that was fair value.
A complete Moser or Strange 12 bolt is north of $3000. Stronger components and a brand new rear axle assembly so the comparison isn't really fair.
Hope that helps some.

Re: Got a DANA 44
If you want it gone then put up a fair price and don't expect to get top dollar.
Overpriced and nobody is interested. Underpriced and it will sell fast even if you need to take a loss. Ask for a reasonable price with a little room for haggling since nobody seems to want to pay the asking price even if it's well under what it's worth.
Although it might be rare, at the time it was the best conversion option for a third gen. There are many aftermarket options available now that are better for the same price the Dana 44 was originally worth from GM.
