good clutch brand?
hi, i am putting a 400 sbc in my 90 rs camaro with a t5 trany i am using a 153 tooth flywheel out of an 84 camaro so it is a two piece rear main flywheel to match my crank as well as a counter weight plate that goes between the flywheel and the crank so i can externally balance it. i know what you are thinking, "the t5 trany wont hold up to a 400" yes i know i should be using a t56 but i am a collage student and this needs to be a mild budget build. but i dont want to go skimpy on a good clutch. are there any recommendations as to which clutch brand you guys prefer? thanks.

I have been happy with my spec clutch. The t5 will handle the 400 if you don't miss 3rd and don't launch it a lot.

I also have a McCleod, but it's a bit more than the rest...
There is a 11" (10.95) clutch that works, I and a few other members use it, I think I got both for about $420...
Info from McCleod...
"Yes the 10.95” pressure plate in the part number 360710 will work on the 10.5” pattern your flywheel has. The 260871 has been discontinued and is currently replaced by part number 260571"
The new part number for the disc is a dual friction clutch disc.
Good for 500 HP

Install one of these DIY Clutch Tamers if you use anything more aggressive than a stock organic lining. Very inexpensive, you will be surprised at how much more power you will be able to throw at that T5...

I really like the Spec stage 2+ for a good gripping daily driver clutch.

Re: good clutch brand?
This is a pretty good budget clutch, I had it handle my 300 rwhp just fine.
