What th400 crossmember will work with mufflex y-pipe?

I've searched here and and Google without a real clear answer. I know the spohn won't because I tried it 10 years ago. I fabbed up my own torque arm mount onto the factory crossmember. I may have to fab up something again but thought I'd ask here.

I did call bmr and umi. Bmr wants me to send pics of the y-pipe on the car and umi says their crossmember hangs too low.

The old Hurst 500-0002 clears most Y pipes, but it's not a torque arm mount crossmember. It has the plate that bolts to tailshaft of trans.

No Y pipe on my car (dual exhaust) but here is the hurst crossmember. A buddy of mine had the same one and ran a Y pipe with his. I can't remember what Y pipe but it was about 8 years ago and he bought it from summit.

Thanks for the pictures. That helps for sure. It appears that I'd need a factory piece to use parts off of.

Your welcome.. Yeah the old Hurst kit used the top half of the 2 pc. with rubber biscuit stock crossmember and you have to trim the lip sticking down off it.

Really you could just use a pc. of flat bar or plate steel to go across the hurst crossmember. When I 1st built my car over 10 years ago I just happen to have one of those factory 2 pc crossmembers and used that. I now have a pc. 1/8" thick plate in place of that factory part as the factory part flexed in the center too much.

I can't find any place that sells the hurst crossmember. I did find a torque arm relocation bracket mad by hurst.

Hmmm, I'll look and see what I can find. Like I said it's an old part. I bought mine new from Summit back in 2004. It was sold as a kit. Came with crossmember, torque arm bracket that mounts to tail of th-400, some vac line, vac fittings, shift cable brackets, shift lever/arm, nuts, bolts, etc

It was listed as Hurst #500-0002 turbo 400 swap kit - 1982-89 camaro/firebird
The copyright date on the paperwork with mine said 1989 lol.

It was the main th-400 swap kit back in the day, and the B&M kit was the main th-350 swap kit.

Hmmm, I don't think they make it any longer with the crossmember. They have #5500001 which use to be the th-350 hurst swap kit. It's the TQ arm bracket, vac lines and what not, no crossmember.

Summit still shows the 5500002 but says "Not Available"
