Took the cover off of a 9 bolt I picked up. Not good!
The cones are against the housing. I'm thinking it won't be usable but was hoping someone with experience would chime in.

Cool!! I've been reading about them but wasn't sure about the cones being against the housing. Guess I'll tear into more. Thanks man

Yea, that one is worn out, but it can be reconditioned. I've done a few of them myself. It's pretty easy if you have a lathe.

I'm asuming that the shims are the thickness of what was machined/worn away, correct?

You are about 2 1/2 hours away from me. My daughter is living in Lexington right now and my wife just left this morning to go up there for 2 days.
