Using a Truck 700r4

I did a search, but couldn't find the answer to my question.

I purchased an 86 IROC-Z with no motor and transmission. I have a junked 700r4 from an iroc that was left outside with the pan off for several months. I recently purchased a 700r4 from a 1990 GMC Sierra. I have already swapped the tail housings out, but before I stab the motor and transmission I am curious about the linkage. The truck trans was a column shift and the Camaro is a floor shift. Do I need to change anything before installing it? Will the linkage hook up the same?

The truck and car linkage adapter to trans will be different. Setting them side by side you can see the difference. Maybe 2mins to swap them.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the junked camaro 700r4 doesn't have the linkage adapter on it. It just has the stud sticking out of the side so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Take the one off the truck trans and throw it away. Find a F-body one and use it.

Its on the right side of the picture hooked to the cable.

Re: Using a Truck 700r4

Thanks. That's what I thought. I did some searching before I posted this, but I can't seem to find one for sale. I found plenty of the column shift levers, but cant find a floor shift. Any idea where I might find one? I've tried Classic Industries and Summit Racing.

Re: Using a Truck 700r4

A friend of mine said that the linkage for the truck trans may be reversed because of the column shift. He said that ford transmissions are that way. Does this apply to the 700r4? Do I need to remove the pan and change it?
