700R4 or 4L60 Question

Hello all, I have been gathering up much needed info on these trans for a lockup method and the understanding of OD's.

Here is my question. somewhere in what I have been reading someone said he is using a " Manual Body ". Can someone enlighten me on that "Manual Body" thing. thanks

Re: 700R4 or 4L60 Question

A manual valve body causes the transmission to go into the gear that the shift selector position is in.

Need to be sure to start in 1st, then manually shift to each gear. Not fun on the street unless you like to shift. Start in 3rd and it usually takes out the 3/4 clutch pack.

Thanks RBob, I thought it might be a valve body but wasn't for sure. Sounds like a P I T A, just get a standard shift 4,5 or 6 speed. just saying, my 0.02

thanks again

Re: 700R4 or 4L60 Question

Manual valve bodies are good for drag racing. Street or sanctioned.
