correct flywheel

Have a 97 350 chevy engine. Using 10,5 clutch. Installed a 14088647N flywheel. 153 tooth . Using a powermaster starter for 153 or 168 tooth flywheel. Starter instructions say there should be 1/16" clearance between retracted starter gear and flywheel. I have 1/4". Is this flywheel sized differently than the more standard 14088650? Can't find any info on the 14088647N .HELP, Thanks

Re: correct flywheel

Both 14088647N and 14088650 are 153 tooth, 12.8" dia.

Powermaster makes some starters which bolt to the (parallel) bolt holes for a 153 tooth flywheel, and they can use a second set of holes (in the starter case block) to mount further out to suite a 168 tooth wheel. But that should be greater than 1/4" difference.

I would say you have a questionable starter fitment situation, but no pics and no PN for the starter mean more questions than answers.
