Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

I am finally starting to work on my IROC after many delays and finding missing parts is an issue. Can anyone send me a picture of the clutch pedal pin that connects to the clutch master cylinder rod? Where can I buy one if it is lost?

....although you could probably find one in HELP section at your local auto parts store for a buck or two.

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

I need the pin that the clip goes on. There is hole in the clutch pedal that a rod goes onto, then connects to the master cylinder with that clip

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

In my second gen I just bought a clevis(?) pin from the hardware store and welded it into the pedal, then used a spring retainer (like a cotter, but it has a detent to hold it in place on the rod, not sure what they're called)

The "pin" on the late third gens is welded to the pedal, so you may have an early setup that didn't use the hydraulic master?

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

OK, gotcha. Like Scooter said, mine is welded/part of the pedal lever. Didn't know you could lose that!

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

When I did a search, the Clevis pin method showed up. I could possibly do that but that would involve removing the pedal. Not a fun job. Yes, the master was hydraulic. There is no pin on the pedal, just a hole. I need to know what I need to look for in my mess of a garage.

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

I believe that is the hole for the manual linkage setup. The pin for the master is MUCH higher up on the pedal, look up

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

This is what happens when you take something apart and decide to put it back together a year later. I have spent so much time looking for that stupid pin when there wasn't a pin at all. Thank you Scooter, it was indeed higher up. Yes, it is indeed welded to the pedal. Thank you all for your assistance. One problem solved, a million others to go.

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

Well, I thought I was in the clear. I tried to connect the clutch master rod (McLeod Master) to the clutch pedal and it won't fit. Seems the stock pin diameter on the pedal is .42" and the rod opening on the clutch master I am using is .35 (3/8). Looks like I have to remove the pedal and do the Clevis pin trick. Before I start tearing into things, can anyone give some pointers on removing the clutch pedal? I did a search and the results were inconclusive. I plan on removing the pedal, grind off the old pin, drill 3/8" hole, and tack weld in a clevis pin unless anybody can give me a better solution.

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

Before you do all that, can you open up the end of the master pushrod, or replace it?

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

I thought of that. I can get a rod end that is 7/16 OD that I can adapt to the 3/8 rod but the larger rod end is over 1/2" thick. The pin on the pedal is only allows a rod end that is about 1/4" thick. The rod end I have is 1/2" thick.

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

I imagine you can find a threaded reducing bushing, or a turnbuckle with different end sizes on each side

Re: Lost My Clutch Pedal Pin

I welded in a clevis pin and it seems to work good. But then again, I seem to run into one problem after another. Now I can't get the clutch master rod onto the pedal. Looks like I have to drop the pedal again to attached the rod end. Lotsa fun!!!!!
