T56 install clutch fork mistake
T56 install clutch fork mistake
Pulled the engine and trans out of the car, did an engine swap. Put it all back together laying on the shop floor. Made a mistake and the clutch fork was not in the disengaged position. Do I have to part the motor and trans again to get it where it needs to be? I'm a newbie to working on cars with manual tranny's.

can't you pull the fork back down into the disengaged position?
then just realign and push it into the bearing as it should be

not real sure what happened here. the clutch fork must be disengaged in order to mount the tranny and engine together.. as in it can't be engaged into the throw out bearing with the tranny and engine not mated. it's a pull type clutch.
maybe have a look into the little window the fork goes into and see what's what?

well what did you find out Elwood93?
naf, i was thinking he got the clutch fork behind the bearing thinking that could be room to do that since you pull it towards the transmission face in operation...
