Re: replace trans gasket
The bolts should just be "snug". I don't remember the material of the gasket I used but it's not cork.
I also like to use Gaskacinch...

Moroso pan gasket (93104) I see people are giving great reviews...little expensive but worth it to eliminate any leaks...it is a rubber gasket 3/16 th's thick...Will give a review for the Moroso gasket once i install this week...

Re: replace trans gasket
If you use the Cork & Rubber gasket. Tighten the bolts "one" time to 65 - 70 inch pounds. With the Duraprene gasket (FarPak) the same. Make sure the gasket surfaces are clean and flat. DO NOT use any sealer on them. If you them this way, you will not have any leaks from the gasket.
Re: replace trans gasket
Night and day at the drag strip. While we have several Yank convertors in the fleet, they get a littel pricey. On the other hand, the TCI 10" (both the "Streetfighter" and "Super Streetfighter") have proven excellent and economical choices. Having the lockup function is also very nice.
I find this is especially true with respect to the pan itself. I never could get the old and beat up pan straight enough or hold that straightness once torqued. New transmission rebuild also meant a nice new pan. Never had a leak again. FWIW, I prefer the Duraprene gasket.
