Looking to see if anyone is familiar with this particular gear selector cable design. I need to adjust it as it is off by "1 detent." I have seen this: http://shbox.com/trans/A4_trans_linkage.html (4th gen), but my deisgn (3rd gen) is different in that there is no tab to lift. This is off of a 1991 Camaro RS with 700R4. I have since moved to a 4L60E. Please see images below where one shows the offset and the other shows the gear selector cable at the "adjustment area" where there is a small (approx 1/8"D) circular opening at the bottom and top (as seen in the mirror). I certainly do not want to force or break anything (since it is a plastic housing), so would appreciate any instruction. Thank you!

Reason: correction
Is the Gear-Selector Cable that you are using original to the Car/ the THM700-R4...
Or the 4L60E?
The Linkage Arms on each Transmission are slightly different...
It is best to match the Gear-Selector Cable to the Transmission being used...
If not, try swapping the Linkage Arms.
The gear selector cable is the original (700R4). The 4L60E trans did not come with a bracket or linkage arm, so I had to get creative sifting thru a junkyard. Anyhow, any idea how to adjust this stock 700R4 cable? The plastic housing (in the "adjustment area") just seems slightly different than the "norm!" Thx!
maybe you can use a different bracket on the tranny - like the top one below for a B&M Megashifter. it has multiple holes so maybe one would fit with what you're doing?
these brackets are B&M part number 35498
@vorteciroc So I ordered that B&M bracket, but just curious if there is anyway to adjust a 3rd gen gear selector cable or did that option not come out until the 4th gen?
IIRC the linkage arm on the transmission should be slotted to allow for adjustment where the cable installs to it. the pic above shows no slot.
at least for the handful that I've taken apart and put back together.
unfortunately, my 4L60E did not come with that linkage, so I had to grab one from a junkyard. The B&M one pictured above should arrive today, and hopefully those slots will accommodate. Thank you.
