700R4 VSS Leak

I have this pesky leak and can't resolve the problem
I replaced both gasket's twice and it still leaks the same
Leaking from the inner side not the outer O-ring

This is the gasket set I used.
I didn't see where the c-clip would be used

Re: 700R4 VSS Leak

Not sure what you mean "inner side". Butt that looks like it's coming from the sensor part, not the part that's into the transmission.

Try another sensor.

Inner side
The small gasket goes on the shaft that is turned by the trans speedo gear.

Any recommendations on a replacement sensor?

Re: 700R4 VSS Leak

Tried 2 aftermarket sensors and they both leak from the o-ring where it goes into the trans.
Both of these slide easily into the trans but the original I needed to push hard to get it into the trans.

I looked for OEM and not finding anything

I'm going to put a little silicone on the O-ring before I install and hope it fixes the leak

Re: 700R4 VSS Leak

Silicone sealer (RTV), or silicone lubricant? If RTV, you'll probably want to replace the o-ring with one that has no ATF on it so there's a chance the RTV will stick to it some.

Re: 700R4 VSS Leak

Cleaned the o-ring, sensor and trans with carb cleaner. Put a thin layer of RTV on the o-ring and trans and installed the sensor. Let dry overnight and leak is gone.
