tranny slipping when i turn?
this has only started happening recently. on right turns, it feels like my tranny (700R4) is slipping a little. it revs higher without me speeding up. problem or my imagination? car only has 85K on it, its an 89 RS

did you check your fluid level? the turn can cause the fluid to go to one side and be below the pickup. the trans should be warm wen you check it and shift it through the gears just before you check it. if it is low, make sure it isn't burnt.

Car: 84 Z28
Engine: L69: cam and porting
Transmission: T5, 3.73 rear
also, check that tranny fluid with the car idling hot.
you sure you aren't just spinning the inside rear tire?

I had this on a th350 (same governor as 700) transfixleo recommended checking the governor cover to make sure it was on tight, if it's loose it may cause too much gov end play during a right hand turn or, in my case, a bump. If this isn't it pull the pan down and look for a filter problem. Be sure first the fluid level is correct.

yeah, i dont think that the tire is spinning b/c when i take the turn, it revs up higher, but then it drops and there is no difference in the speed i was traveling(if that made sense). i mean, i can feel it grip. when the RPMs go back down i would be able to feel the tire catch if it was that, i think. plus, its a brand new tire and din't start until recently. im going to try the fluid tomorrow. thanks guys. oh, where is the governor cover?

It's the round cover on the drivers side of the trans towards the back. I don't see how it would come loose but it's an easy check, just run your fingernail around the cover to be sure there is no gap between the lip of the cover and the trans case.

Even if the level checks OK, and I think it will be low, try adding upwards of a quart of oil and see if it is fixed. It wouldn't be the first time a wrong/inacurate stick was in a tranny.
