4.10 gears too bad on the street????

My friend is going to buy my 373 gears from me so should I go with 4.10s with the SLP posi unit? would that be too much for driviblity on the street and occasional highway. 2-hours max on highway. Please respons ASAP. thanks

that's gonna be a lot of gear with your th-350. My buddy has a 4.10 with your trans and it isn't much fun on the freeway. I'm going to get them but i have an overdrive.

If you were happy with your 3.73s, a 4.10 isn't going to kill you that much though.

had a 4.11 rear on my 71 camaro with a 348 and a TH350

I was getting about 10-12 MPG
freeway trips you can just hear the motor winding away top speed on the freeway was around 80-90 mph

you can use them though if you do a any of freeway driving without an overdrive you are going to be better off with someone else like a 3.73 or lower maybe

though for street the thing rocks and lots of fun.

I have 4.10s but I also have overdrive to.4.10s is alot of gear if you dont have overdrive. Also they will kill your gas milage on the highway.

Yeah, gas milage doesnt bother me. I just dont want to hurt the engine by higher RPMs on the highway. I just spent aroun $1600 for my motor so I dont want to blow it up or anything. I will have 15x10 rims on the back with BF Goodrich Radial TAs. I dont know if that will up RPMs or not. Any ideas of RPM range on the highway?? Thanks alot.

The RPMS shouldnt hurt your engine unless you take up to is red line alot.At 80 mph Im pushing just under 3000 RPMS and thats in overdrive .Hope this helps.

69 Z28 Camaros came from the factory with 410 gears, but they were short stroke engines. 3000 rpm isn't going to hurt a GOOD small block. I'm thinking on going with 456 gears in my GTA, but I don't drive the state too much.

Just my .02 worth, but if you have ~25-26 inch diameter tires and no overdrive, I wouldn't go with more than 3.73's. If you have a taller tire (28in+) or and overdrive, 4.10's are do-able.

I have a T400 trans (ie no overdrive) and run 3.73's in my 9 bolt with 26 inch diameter tires and turn 2900 @ 60 and 3380 @ 70.

Wow, I couldn't imagine 4:10 w/no OD. That is if you do highway driving. It was a big step going from 2:73s to 3:73s w/OD, when I would take long drives, I don't like to drive the car above 2500 rpms for a long time.

Yeah, the engines built well but I just dont like the idea of high rpms for about an hour. I was thinking maybe going 55-60 on the highway...
