installing B&M shift kit, need help.

ok I don't know how to do this, later today I am going to go and buy the 2 in 1 shift kit and I want to install it "the street kit", is it a hard thing to do, has anyone done this??

I have a 1984 LG4 305 camaro, but I don't know what kind of tranny I have and gears I have, should I take this to a shop and have them do it?

I must know A.S.A.P., if it's gonna be hard i'll just wait but if its gonna be easy I'll go for it.

Shift kits are fairly easy to install, just take your time and read the instructions. Double check everything!!!!! I wouldent use the B&M kit but you probably dont want to spend the cash on a transgo kit and its understandable but for the love of *** dont use the street/strip plate that comes with the kit!!!!! a few more!!!!!! Its hell on the tranny and even Haynes techbook, that talks about B&M kits exclusivly doesnt suggest you use the S/S plate. Thats got to tell you somthing. If you insist on B&M use the RV/Tow plate, it isnt as good as Transgo by a long shot but it will increase the apply pressure and give you positive shifts that wont ruin your tranny. And If you install any shift kit its always good to get an aftermarket cooler and bypass the radiator alltogather.

Oh yea the S/S kit is horrible most people around here shunn B&M alltogather.

So the open element gave you a healthy boost in power too, most people think Im full of when I tell them that alone gave me 500rpm over the single snorkel.

I wouldn't get the B&M. Call probuilt and get the transgo, the cheapest transgo kit will be way better ...but you'll have to wait til next week end to put it in.

What is the "plate"? I am referring to when you refer to the s/s plate and the rv/towing plate? What exactly does it do?

The plate he is referring to is the valve body plate. B&M does offer a plate for the TH350/TH400, but not the 700R4. I would pass on the B&M though, does more harm than good!

I've had a B&M Strip shift kit installed in my 700-r4. I wasn't really to impressed, it has a hard shift 1/2, and a 2/1 downshift that will smoke the tires off. If I did it over again I would probably go with Transgo. But I figure it's in now and if something happens to trannie, I'll just buy a Pro-Built all decked out

Besides the trannie had 80k+ miles on it when the shift kit went in.
