oddly enough it is a t5... they were avalible of all years. the 4th gen has an rpo code of M49.... The only thing special about this tranny is ... it's close to me, not high milage, and at a decent price.
but basically I was wondering what the bolt pattern is? is it like a third gen t5 or like the t56? (crossmember bolt pattern that is)

I though the 5 speed was only available with the six cylinder...If so then the bellhousing and clutch assembly may be different.

The trans itelf doesn't care about which 6-cyl it came from, only the bell housing is different. The trans itself is the same no matter which 6-cyl it was behind.
However, a 6-cyl trans has different splines where it plugs into the clutch from what a V8 one has. You could theoretically make it work by using a 6-cyl clutch disk. I doubt it would be a good match though; you would hate the gears (very wide ratios) and probaby burn up the clutch because it's a good bit smaller than the already too-small V8 clutch disc.
