is it true that you can't have posi for a standard

Axle/Gears: 9 bolt 3.45
is it true that you can't have posi for a standard

I have been old that only automatics can have posi and standards can not. is that true??

find whomever told you that and beat them with a tack-hammer. lol. The posi is in the rear end, the tranny has nothin' 2 do with it

Who ever told you that has no clue what they are talking about. My friend has an 84 z28 that came stock with a 5 speed and posi.

Hehe you're gettin some bad advise. You should definitley never believe anything that person ever tells you again!! The tranny and rear end are not related in any fashion.

my 84 camaro has an original 5-speed with a posi. i had to put a new one in because i broke the original posi.

Well, they're still wrong.

You can run any type of carrier you want in an axle, it has NOTHING to do with the engine or transmission!

Some choices-
posi
locker
spool
"open" diff

GM used an Eaton Locker in '84 f-body rear axles, because their supply of Auburn Posi units was low. But that was the only year. And the Eaton Gov-lock isn't a great design- that's why GM never used it again.

like ANY car would have a locker from the factory. Yeah, that would improve driveability...sheesh
