Accessory fuse blows...

The Accessories fuse blows. I know that there's a short.
But where do I look? All I know is that the wire is orange.
There are tons of other orange wires.
All the wires are in black plastic flexible coil thingy (makes it very hard to trace the one, of many, orange wire).

The following don't work, cigar lighter, map/courtesy light, and stereo (won't work on ACC postion).
Is this because the Accessory fuse is blown?

It's the cigar lighter. Pull it out, put in console, replace fuse.

So, I should pull the cigar lighter out, and then put it back in?

I don't understand what you mean by, "put in console".

I think he means to put the "push-in lighter" into the console, to keep it out of the lighter socket.

Do you keep change in the ashtray? Try looking in the lighter socket for a penny.

I think I have the Fuse Block for 1990-1992 model Camaro.

That's why I have a 20amp ACC (Accessory) fuse, whereas, 1985-1989 Camaro Fuse Blocks have a 20amp CTSY (Courtesy) fuse instead.

But the wiring should be somewhat similar. (I hope)

Am I right?

Yelp, the cigar lighter body shorts to the
shell. Took me forever to figure out what was
causing the fuse to blow.

I started to use a scan tool alot then went
and put the lighter back in. With that the fuse
started to pop again. Hmmm, took the lighter out,
dropped it into the console, and the fuse didn't
blow again until I put the lighter back.

That time I noticed sparking in between the
lighter body and shell. Lighter's back in the console. Fuse has been good for over 2 years
since.

Yup, I haven't had the time to fix the short. I will, however, track the ground wire and see if it's okay.

I know that the cigar lighter is connected to the dome or courtesy light (don't remember which one), which then are grounded.

The repair manual says that the cigar lighter is connected the glove box light, and both are grounded.

Since these cars don't have a glove box (it blows my mind), I guess I'm screwed for the time-being.

(I can't believe 3rd gen. camaro's don't have a glove box).
