3.4 liter swap
3.4 liter swap
I have some questions about the 3.4 liter swap. Do you use the computer, intake and the injectors from the 2.8 or do you get new ones. also gm makes a coversion kit for a 2.8 to 3.4 for a
S-10 so can you use that kit.

Engine: 5.7 / 7.4
Transmission: 6sp / TH350
Axle/Gears: 3.55 posi / 3.23
use the intake, computer, & distributor from 2.8, use injectors & fpr from 3.4. What is th ep/n for the GM conversion kit, or is it the 3.4 crate motor?
Nope its is a crate, they want 1779.95$ for a carbed version and they also make a feul injected one. no core and 1 year warranty.
I dont think I will do the swap becuase a was offerd a free 83 z28 which mean all of my money will go into that.

DEFINETLY dump the V-6 & invest the cash into a First year Third Gen of the Z-28.
COLLECTORS ITEM!!
Buy a used running V-6 from the yard.
I'm getting my second 3.4 for $600, this time & I'm sticking it under my 1985 S-10 Blazer, FEDERAL version, Auto.
It's simple. See my tech thread about the 2.8->3.4 long block swap boogie. Substitute the 1985 Firebird information with the words, Blazer 2-bbl carb'd & you're home free.
EXCEPT!!
3.4 don't have fuel pumps on BLOCK!
Need an electric pump, inline from tank to get fuel up there.
Beside that detail, no other surprise at all.
Go get a used running block, save the tons of cash, invest in that Z-28!!
Great return on investment!

I will be blasthomus, but keep the 83 Z. The 3rd gen camaros just look mener than the birds.
Maybe because my oldest brother had an 85-86 IROC-Z w/t-tops many moons ago.
For the price of the crate motor, you could get the 83 to scoot pretty good

I suggest you follow our suggestions!
PLUS
Pull the motor for the "Matching numbers" of the future collectors.
Realize this
These cars are collectors items now.
NOT VERY HIGH IN $$$$$ now, But....
And starting for free??????????
I mean you win!
Go get a one of 8 1969 Trans Ams Convertibles (4 auto & 4 stick)
Please.
What do you own that is that valuable you are investing your effort & spare dollars on?
I think most of us walk on Earth, not relatives of Bill Gates?
Even when I am a Millionaire in four more years, I'd doubt I'd invest in that one model, anyway.
I'd go for one of the 5 Gran Sport Corvettes, myself!
Maybe one Bently Turbo R, also.
Gotta get there, fast, ya know.

I am going to be buying fixing selling houses now.
I take a strong foundation and revive it with a "shave, haircut, new suit". Double my purchase price.
IF the car is a strong foundation, straight, rust free, cracked plastic stuff, worn proper intrerior, and complete intact worn out original engine & tranny, BFD.
Sounds like a great foundation to me!
Ya shoulda seen my 1985 Firebird, when I got it!
AND I PAID $300 for it!
You get heritage for free! (first year, third gen Z-28) and ya complain
Must have a beautiful girlfriend to keep ya busy!
